The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie was one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Almost five months after fans exploded in theaters with Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans of Marvel and the superhero genre had all their expectations placed on the new MCU production.

How to watch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) Full Movie When does Doctor Strange stream out?

However, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that promised to be one of the great events of the year, started off on the wrong foot, dividing waters left and right. While Doctor Strange 2 had a solid box office debut, the response from fans was not as expected. In fact, in the last few hours it has been reported that the film directed by Sam Raimi has become the second worst Marvel premiere, according to fans.

How can fans watch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness online? Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to stream. According to CinemaScore, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness received a B+ rating, the second lowest in MCU history. This score puts Doctor Strange's second solo installment in a tie with Thor, and above Eternals, considered Marvel's worst entries, according to fans.

The first reviews about Doctor Strange 2 were positive, but as is known, critics and fans do not always agree on their views about a film. The curious thing is to wonder why, why after being announced as one of the great premieres of the year, the fans left the cinema so disappointed? Below we review some points of the tape, with spoilers.

When Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters there were high expectations from fans. It had been a while since the last arachnid adventure and for months there had been rumors and speculation about the possible return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their respective versions of Spider-Man. To whom were added the renowned villains who were also back.

No Way Home screenings were a riot. Fans screamed and clapped in movie theaters, ecstatic to see what they had been asking for so much. It was pure "fan service". In the case of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the fan service was lacking and that left fans somewhat disappointed.

With the new installment of Doctor Strange, Marvel took a big risk. He plunged into uncharted territory, which proved to be dark, strange and at times pointless. The change of director confused more than one when Scott Derrickson left the production due to "creative differences" with the studio and Sam Raimi arrived in his place. With the final product already in theaters, Raimi's hallmark is very noticeable.

The new Doctor Strange movie finds the Master of the Mystic Arts (Benedict Cumberbatch), who must join forces with América Chávez ((Xochitl Gomez), a teenager who has the ability to travel between universes and who finds herself escaping from fearsome creatures that They seek to seize their power.

We soon discover that all these beings are in the service of Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who for some time has been using Chaos Magic to try to reunite with her children.

Without knowing it, Doctor Strange goes to Wanda to ask for her help, to discover that she is the one behind the sinister plan: to acquire the powers of America and thus travel through the Multiverse to find her children (who do not really exist since were created by magic).

The long-awaited "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" is now available in theaters in Peru and around the world, so the reactions and theories around what is shown at the end of the story are not long in coming. Let's get to the point and focus on the already mentioned post-credits scene of the film.

The first post-credits scene takes place in the middle of, forgive the redundancy, the credits. We see Steve Stranger coming out of his house dressed as a normal person. As he walks calmly down the street, a woman dressed in a lilac suit, played by Charlize Theron, approaches him to tell him that she has caused "a raid", so she must help her solve this problem. As she speaks it, she opens a portal where she shows him the disaster that is taking place in the Dark Dimension.

“You caused a raid and you have to fix it. Or you are afraid?" she questions this mysterious being to Strange. To which he takes it as a challenge, he takes off his cape and says of course not, while he lets out his third eye from his forehead.

This woman in purple, her name is Clea, and she is the daughter of Prince Orini (son of Olnar, the former ruler of the Dark Dimension) and Umar (sister of the Terrible Dormammu). Orini was Dormammu's closest and most loyal disciple.

Therefore, the character played by Theron is the niece of the villain Dormammu, whom we saw in the 2016 film "Doctor Strange". Those who saw this film will remember that the protagonist of the story left him trapped in a constant déjà vu.

Clea is also Supreme Sorceress of the Dark Dimension, the same one that was ruled by Dormammu. Let us remember that in this space, time does not exist in the same way that it does within the regular universe. Not a minor fact is that the powerful woman was one of Strange's great loves.

If in "previous episodes" I made an objective review of the movie of the moment, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", today I want to bring you my personal opinion. I repeat, opinion. I am going to delve into the reasons why my review is, in the opinion of many, lower than it should be. And for that this subjective criticism must be, inevitably, with spoilers. You are warned.

Well, because it is very wasted, basically. This is its main defect and from which all the others start. And it is that it could have been one of the best movies of the UCM and it has remained in a kind of half-gas story. But let's start with the virtues, which it has.

In addition to the visual aspect, very powerful and spectacular, well shot in all its aspects (even the fights are shot in a clearer way), I liked the rhythm of the narration and the development of the plot.

Who’s in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cast?

Except for a small central part that I will talk about later, Raimi, as director, and the writer Waldron show us very soon what will be the main threat that Strange has to face and, from there, it is a no stop of action and entertainment that leaves the viewer breathless, but without overwhelming him in any way (neither visual nor narrative).

Throughout the footage, the dynamics of the film makes us extremely entertained and we practically do not have repetitions of scenes despite having different versions of some characters.

Is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in Theaters (And What's the Runtime)?

It is there where we do see Raimi's strong hand, in the handling of the characters, in the internal drama that each one shows, portraying the human facet within this multidimensional and superheroic adventure. Raimi knows very well how to show us people under those colorful costumes.

Beneath all that action, that destruction, behind all those monsters we find well-constructed and developed characters who, when the action stops and give us a break, give us more than competent and very emotional performances.

But the film does not quite dare to give everything that it promises: we have a director who, despite having stated that he has had total creative freedom (what is he going to say!), shows that he is somewhat handcuffed, voluntarily I guess. Raimi never forgets that he is at Marvel Disney and that makes it impossible for us to see a movie as we would expect from this director.

Will there be a Doctor Strange 3?

After a short break last week, we return to this section in which we review the most outstanding cinema that you can see this weekend. Today I bring you 11 essential films to see in theaters, which are released in streaming, appear in physical format or are broadcast on a national Spanish television channel.

Just in case none of the ones chosen today motivates you, I remind you that we also have a list of the best Netflix movies of 2022 so far, a selection of powerful streaming erotic movies, another of great movies that unfairly failed to recover in platforms or one of the great science fiction movies set in space. Without further ado, let's go with the essentials of this weekend.

Marvel's Phase 4 continues with the premiere of this new installment of the adventures of the superhero played by Benedict Cumberbatch. With the incentive that the multiverses will have a great weight in the plot, which also works as a sequel to 'Scarlet Witch and Vision' and for the return to this type of cinema by Sam Raimi 15 years after the disappointment suffered with 'Spider- Man 3'.

A comedy seen at the last Cannes Festival around a former porn actor who is not exactly going through his best moment and returns to his roots, although perhaps they don't want to know anything about him. The ideal alternative for those who feel indifference (or worse) towards Marvel cinema.

"Doctor Strange," now streaming on Disney+

Sam Raimi returns to the realm of Marvel movies with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and while it gives Stephen the starring role, this is still a movie about Wanda. Also, America Chavez makes her MCU debut in a literal starring role, but as you might expect, multiple magic users messing with reality itself has massive implications for the future of the multiverse. So we are here to explain it all.

It doesn't take long for the movie to establish its basic structure: MCU newcomer America Chavez is on the run from a villain who turns out to be none other than Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch. Wanda wants to use America's powers to travel the universe and find a world where her children (seen in Scarlet Witch and Vision as unreal beings created by her with her magic) truly exist. And she will do anything to get what she wants, even kill Chavez (and a bunch of other people) if she has to.

This leads to Doctor Strange and Chavez finding themselves in a variety of universes, and meeting a bunch of variants of familiar characters. In all, there are four Doctor Stranges in this film: our main Strange from Earth-616, the ponytailed Defender Strange (who becomes a Dreamwalker zombie in the film's final battle), Strange Sinister (who is defeated by Strange of Earth-616), and the Strange of Earth-838 (who defeated Thanos in his universe).

The Strange of 838 was also part of that universe's Illuminati, a Marvel Comics supergroup. In this version, the Illuminati are also made up of a good-natured version of Karl Mordo (Chiwitel EjioforChiwetel Ejiofor), Captain Marvel, who in this universe is not Carol Danvers but her best friend Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) Black Bolt of the Inhumans (Anson Mount reprising his role from the ABC series), Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), and last but not least, John Krasinski as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic four.

What to Know Before Seeing ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Of all these characters, Krasinski is the most notable for the fan interest that has existed around the choice of the actor for the role of Reed. But does his appearance here mean that he will appear again in the Fantastic Four movie that is in development? The MCU's Fantastic Four movie was announced in 2019, and no cast has been officially revealed (and it just lost its director). So that movie is at least a couple of years away.

Marvel Studios has stopped offering stars crazy multi-movie contracts like they did in the infancy of the MCU, but still, they likely want a Reed Richards that they can stretch across multiple movies. Krasinski isn't too old (he's about the same age as Robert Downey, Jr. when he first played Iron Man). Additionally, the Loki series has established that variants can take on different, sometimes downright absurd, appearances throughout the multiverse. So even if Reed is played by Krasinski here, don't flatter yourself: the character could very well be someone else in the Fantastic Four movie.

He had always thought that the appeal of the multiverse lay in its infinite possibility. To imagine that the only limit to existence is the breadth of our own imaginations: that anything we can conjure could be out there, born in an alternate universe.

Well thank you Marvel for showing me how wrong I was. It turns out that the point of the multiverse, and of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is not its creative potential. They are the cameos of him. There could be a million universes, and all of them would contain surprise appearances of people and things that fans can scream and scream about, before buying them as toys at the movie theater.

Which Marvel titles to watch as you prep for ‘Multiverse of Madness’

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is, at its core, Spider-Man: No Way Home minus all the rose-tinted nostalgia or one-man charisma machine that is Andrew Garfield.

It also doesn't have an ounce of the fun with its central swagger that 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse did, minus a single sequence in which the magically gifted Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) finds himself stumbling through one portal after another, universe after universe. There is still one ruled by the dinosaurs. One where people are made of paint splatters. Another one that is all two-dimensional.

The audience greets them as they pass, before Strange returns to the same New York City street set with some additional CGI in the background.

When Will Doctor Strange 2 be on Disney+?

Any chance to get serious about the "madness" in this multiverse is thwarted by the crowded and intersecting desires of its three main characters.

Strange, who's already shattered the multiverse once in No Way Home, is still grappling with the same difficulties he's dealt with since his 2016 solo film: weighing personal responsibility and personal risk. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), meanwhile, has fully transformed into the headstrong and tragic “Scarlet Witch” persona she discovered in last year's series, WandaVision, which aired on Disney+ (yes, if you haven't seen it yet).

kept up with TV shows, this movie will show you no mercy). She will stop at nothing to reunite with the two sons she conjured in her mind. A new hero, America Chavez (a cute Xochitl Gomez), has also randomly emerged from a portal. As we soon find out, she has a tendency to jump universes whenever she's under pressure.

In 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,' The Watch Is The Key

The film begins with a great deal of exposition, but then begins to buckle more and more under the weight of its vast lore and magical MacGuffins (narrative elements that justify the plots of a film).

There are two very important spellbooks, one good and one bad, and an exhaustive series of weapons, names, legends, and committees. But it's hard to find much joy in that level of world building when the Multiverse of Madness is dominated by two feverish and chaotic feelings: watching MCU boss Kevin Feige try to lay the groundwork for the next phase in his grand franchise plans, and at the same time try to tie up the loose ends of what has come before.

But these are structural loose ends, not emotional ones. While screenwriter Michael Waldron unfurled some delicate character work in his recent MCU TV series, Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, is practically a construction worker here, mechanically figuring out how this person can connect with this other, instead of of allowing individual fears and desires to guide the plots of the film.

Strange still, for example, has a crush on Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), even though her character basically dropped off the face of the planet after her solo movie. And not in the literal sense, because of the Thanos snap.
